"This projector file is corrupt! Unable to continue."

UPDATE 17/12/2015: Microsoft released a Windows update that blocks the copy protection software used on the CD-ROMs; this means that all CD-ROMs may now not run in Windows 7,8 and 10. We have fixed exes for all products here: https://cbt.caeoxfordinteractive.com/mod/page/view.php?id=2405

Original Post

Some of our products will generate this error message when run on Windows 8: "This projector file is corrupt! Unable to continue".

This is caused by an incompatibility between the 3rd party copy protection used on the CD-ROMs and Windows 8. It is not due to a corrupt file.

Please see here for more information and downloads to fix the issue: https://cbt.caeoxfordinteractive.com/mod/page/view.php?id=2405

It did partly work. solved the error that was initially showing. But I am getting hardware issue now. windows 10 changed my resolution i think and now even going to the recommended 1280x760 is not correcting it. but i think the patch is fine. this is probably issue because of 11 inch screen running low resolution.

I tried and it didn't work the fist time. (The first time i put the patches on the desktop, but the program failed right after start).
Then I copied the files, went to the installation folders of the three CDs and pasted the files there. (Of course each one on his proper Cd folder)
I overwrote and substituded the old ones and now everything seems to be fine :) At lest the Math Cd, the only one i tried :)

Guys try to make the same to check if it works!

Hi,

I have updated the link, the correct link is: https://cbt.caeoxfordinteractive.com/mod/page/view.php?id=2405

Note: These patches are for Windows 8. Windows 10 has blocked the copy protection tech used on the CD-ROMs but we know that these patches have worked for some Windows 10 users.

Hi,

I have the same problem with the Practical Flying training CD ROM, I have tried the new link and it dosnt seem to be working again.

It was working yesterday as I used it to install the PPL Exam prep CD ROM and the new file worked with Windows 10.

Could you please help me out with the fix file for practical flying training?

Regards

Steve

Hi,

I am just in the process of updating all of the fixed exes to resolve issues with a recent Microsoft update that stops the CD-ROMs running on Windows 7, 8 and 10.

The new files will be available within the next couple of hours.

Hi Jon,

Just seen the new updates. I have installed the update for the practical flying training which now allows me to open the software however it on start up it cant find a .mpg file and once in the software after agreeing to terms and conditions it comes up with further errors which I then have to close the software again.

Have also tried running in compatibility mode and the same still happens.

Can you give me any help?

Cheers

Steve

Hi,

Do you have the most recent version of the software? You can find this
in system/PFT.ini - the most recent version is 1.1,

Also, make sure you are have replaced the exe in the system/ folder and run it from there - if you run PFT-menu.exe from any other location it will fail to find the video files.

Hi,

Your right! The latest version should be 1.2. I've just rebuilt the exe from source files and done a test - it should now work ok.

You'll need to re-download the fixed exe. Let me know how you get on.
